Update

from TWBC

Hello digitalservices@tunbridgewells.gov.uk

Here is your weekly update from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council

A clock

Changing hours at The Amelia Scott

From April, we are proposing to change the opening hours at The Amelia Scott to:

Monday - Friday 9am-6pm
Saturday 9am-5pm
Sunday 10am-4pm

Currently, The Amelia Scott is open from 9am-8pm on a Thursday - under the proposed new opening hours, it will close at 6pm on a Thursday due to low visitor numbers.

Feedback on the proposed changes.

Gas works on Pembury Road

In consultation with Kent County Council SGN's contractor, WCB Utilities, now plan to return to complete maintenance work on Pembury Road from the 4 April 2025. Although most of their work will be in Grovehurst, they will need to excavate on Pembury Road to connect the new pipe.

If you need further information, you can visit the SGN website.

Local Government Reorganisation in Kent

As set out in the Government's English Devolution White Paper, all 14 Council Leaders in Kent have today submitted their interim proposals to replace the current two-tier system with new unitary councils.  We now await the Government's response. Further extensive work will take place over the coming months on final proposals to be submitted in November 2025, during which time there will be scope for a much wider programme of public and partner engagement.

More information, covering letter and the submission from all 14 councils in Kent can be seen here.

Talkin' 'bout money

The Council has approved its budget for 2025/26.

It is a legal requirement for a council to set an annual budget and for that budget to be 'balanced' or fully funded. Once again TWBC has achieved this without the need to use reserves at a time when there is little growth in the national economy.

Your food waste is collected weekly on the same day as your recycling or household waste collection and it may be collected by a separate lorry at a different time of the day.

Got an awkward or bulky item to dispose of? Our bulky waste collection service will remove heavy or large items too big to fit in your bin. To visit the household waste recycling centre at North Farm you must book a slot in advance using the Kent County Council booking system.

Remember you can put old batteries out during your recycling collection week and small electrical items and textiles on your household waste collection week.
