Consultation has concluded

This consultation will be open from the 26 May to the 14 July.

Background

The Council regularly receives feedback from residents about traffic-related issues affecting them and we have now received funding to carry out a survey to help us understand, in more detail, the experiences and everyday concerns facing the community on the streets in the St John’s and St James’ neighbourhoods and surrounding areas in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The map in this consultation covers primarily the wards of St. James and St. John's and several streets in Culverden, Park, Sherwood, and Southborough & High Brooms wards.

While we anticipate that much of the feedback will be about traffic-related issues, we hope to get feedback on other aspects of living in the area as well.

How to respond

The interactive map at the bottom of this page gives an opportunity for the St John’s and St James’ community - residents, businesses, schools – to add markers in particular places: this might be where someone has particular road safety concerns – maybe a dangerous junction - or where there is something to be celebrated – a favourite street tree, for example. We are particularly keen to hear suggestions for possible improvements, and all ideas are welcome! If your suggestion has already been included on the map by someone else, please feel free to add your comment anyway and reinforce the point. The more feedback we get, the better.

After placing your pins on the map, please press the survey tab to share some information about you and your overall views on the St. John’s and St. James' areas. You only need to complete this second stage once, but you can add as many comments and suggestions on the map as you wish.

Next steps

This survey is the first of a three-stage work programme. Stages 1 and 2 have received funding from the Government’s Active Travel Fund:

Stage 1 (this stage): Gathering the views of the community – both positive and negative.

Stage 2: Using the survey results to design solutions that answer the concerns raised, and asking for additional feedback from the community on these.

Stage 3: Submitting a bid to the Government for funding to deliver changes that are supported by the community. Please note that further funding would be needed to implement any changes.
